Chinese Ink Painting 'Poppies 6' - Origional Art Work
This series focuses on poppies—an Irish wildflower observed and studied through a collection of nine paintings. Rather than a direct representation, the works move towards abstraction, exploring form, movement, and the fleeting nature of the flower itself.
Poppies are delicate and short-lived, their petals shifting and falling quickly. In this series, they are translated into gestures and marks, capturing an impression rather than a fixed image.
Across the nine paintings, the subject is revisited and reinterpreted, allowing the form to loosen and evolve, reflecting both the fragility of the flower and the rhythm of observation over time.
Each painting carries my red seal, marking the work in the tradition of my ink practice and grounding the series within that lineage.
Size: approx 300 x 300 mm
Material: Ink on Xuan paper (natural fibre). Due to the nature of the material, slight texture, buckling, or creasing may occur as part of the process. Works are sold unframed and can be flattened/stretched and framed on request with additional cost. Each piece carries my red seal.
