Chinese Ink Painting 'Cat 5' - Origional Art Work

This painting is of my cat, Brunch—my workshop companion.

We moved to Bishopstown in 2023 from Béal na Bláth, and during that transition he lost his tail after an injury. The experience meant surgery and recovery, and a period of adjustment as he learned to navigate a new urban environment, with the local city cats showing him the way.

Brunch is resilient. He recovered well from his operation and adapted with quiet strength to his surroundings.

In the workshop, he is a steady presence—often asleep nearby while I work. Watching him rest in peace, and spending time counting the spots along his back, has become a simple, grounding part of my day.

This is part of a series of five paintings, created through studying him and the quiet moments we share in the studio.

Size: approx 300 x 300 mm

Material: Ink on Xuan paper (natural fibre). Due to the nature of the material, slight texture, buckling, or creasing may occur as part of the process. Works are sold unframed and can be flattened/stretched and framed on request with additional cost. Each piece carries my red seal.
