Chinese Ink Painting 'Apartment' - Origional Art Work

This piece is one of four paintings created during my return to Taiwan in 2024, where I revisited my practice of Chinese calligraphy and ink painting to deepen and refine my skills.

The setting is drawn from everyday domestic life—kitchen utensils, plants, and a washing machine stacked on a dryer. It’s a scene that feels equally familiar in Taiwan and in my home in Ireland. I chose this subject for its quiet universality.

Within these small details, the painting holds two homes on opposite sides of the world. It reflects the rhythm of daily life that connects them, and the subtle overlap between memory, place, and belonging.

Size: approx 250 mm dia

Material: Ink on Xuan paper (natural fibre). Due to the nature of the material, slight texture, buckling, or creasing may occur as part of the process. Works are sold unframed and can be flattened/stretched and framed on request with additional cost. Each piece carries my red seal.
