Chinese Ink Painting 'Cheese Grater' - Origional Art Work
This work continues the Making Home theme, focusing on the Irish kitchen and the memories people carry through the objects that once filled it.
Kitchens are never just functional spaces—they hold stories, habits, and inherited ways of living. In Ireland, many of these memories are tied to familiar domestic objects that shaped daily life.
The cheese grater is one such object. Simple and familiar, yet almost universally remembered through experience rather than instruction. Its sharp surface, the sound of use, and the small rituals around preparing food all form part of a shared domestic memory.
This body of work reflects on these objects as carriers of memory, and how they connect us to a sense of home, repetition, and everyday care.
